terms of service.

last updated: july 8, 2026

01 who we are

the impossibl ai api is an ai gateway run by impossibl, inc. ("impossibl", "we"). it gives you one openai-compatible api that routes your requests to third-party model providers like openai, anthropic, google, xai and z.ai. these terms cover the api, the dashboard and this site.

02 accepting these terms

by creating an account, calling the api or using the site, you agree to these terms. if you use the ai api on behalf of a company, you agree for that company too. if you don't agree, don't use the service. you must be old enough to form a contract where you live.

03 accounts and api keys

you can sign up on the site, or an agent can create an account through the api and hand it to you later with a claim code. when you claim an account, its balance, keys and usage become yours.

keep your api keys secret. anything done with your keys counts as done by you. if a key leaks, revoke it in the dashboard and mint a new one.

04 credits and billing

the ai api is prepaid. you load a dollar balance and each request's cost comes off it. usage is charged at the provider's list price with 0% usage markup. prepaid credit purchases include a 5% platform fee. providers change their prices, and the live list at get /v1/models is the one that applies.

payments are processed by stripe. unused credits are not refundable except where the law requires it. promotional credits, like the signup bonus, have no cash value and we can adjust or expire them.

05 bring your own key

you can add your own provider keys. matching requests then go through your key and are billed by that provider under your agreement with them. your api credit balance isn't touched. keeping those keys valid, and whatever the provider charges, is on you.

06 acceptable use

use the ai api lawfully. follow the usage policies of the providers your requests reach. don't probe, overload or break the service, don't work around limits or billing, and don't use it to harm people or systems. we can suspend or close accounts that do.

07 your content

your prompts and the outputs you get back are yours, as between you and us. we send them to the provider you picked so it can respond, and the provider handles them under its own terms. we don't sell your content and we don't use it to train models.

08 third-party models

the models belong to third parties, and we don't control them. outputs can be wrong, biased or unsafe. check them before you rely on them. providers can change models, prices and policies at any time.

09 no warranties

the ai api is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows. we work to keep it fast and available, but we don't promise uninterrupted or error-free service, and we may change or discontinue features.

10 liability

to the extent the law allows, impossibl is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits or data. our total liability for any claim is capped at what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

11 termination

you can stop using the ai api at any time. email us to close your account. we can suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms, and we'll tell you unless the law prevents it. sections that by nature should survive, like content, liability and governing law, survive.

12 changes

we may update these terms. we'll post the new version here and change the date at the top. if you keep using the ai api after that, you accept the update.

13 governing law

these terms are governed by the laws of the state of california, usa. disputes go to the state or federal courts in san francisco county, and both sides consent to that venue.
